Budget and Commit configuration
To ensure accurate tracking and forecasting of your Databricks and cloud spend in the Blueprint Lakehouse Optimizer (LHO), it is essential to enter your budget and commit details correctly. This information allows LHO to deliver accurate insights into your tenant costs, spend trends, and budget/commit compliance throughout the year.
This guide provides step-by-step instructions on inputting your Monthly Budget, Annual Budget and Annual Commit within the Forecasting view.
Admin role permissions are required to set budget and commit. User and Executive roles have read-only access to budget and commit settings.
Configuring Budget and Commit Information
Navigate to Spend Insights > Forecasting page
Click on the gear icon to open Budget and Commit Settings
By default, the settings window opens in Monthly Budget input mode, allowing you to set budget amounts for each month. Click a month name on the chart to select it.
To switch to Annual Budget input mode, click the 'Annually' button. The monthly budget will be auto-calculated based on the annual budget you enter.
To configure Annual Commit, click the 'Commit' button. Enter your annual commit value for your cloud platform (AWS or Azure), and your annual commit value for Databricks, whichever is applicable.
Save the changes to reflect budget and commit amounts on the Costs chart. Actual over budget cost is displayed in red, projected over budget cost is displayed in light red.
Budget and commit amounts may be configured independently for both the current year and previous years, and can be updated at any time.

Accurate budget and commit information allows the Blueprint Lakehouse Optimizer to:
Track your spend against budget and commit values.
Provide accurate forecasts for the remaining months.
Alert you when you’re at risk of exceeding your budget or falling short of your commit.
Help you visualize spend trends month-over-month with comparisons against your targets.
